PACKAGED & BULKED:

Safe chemical separation and containment is required by work safe industry practices and required by Australian Standards Dangerous Goods rulings.

It is important to therefore to store the chemicals used within process in a safe and convenient manner allowing easy access for replacement.

A choice of chemical bunding and storage types that will fit within the dangerous goods guidelines are available and we have several types that suit most applications. If our standards do not suit your application we will design and construct the required type of packaged or bulked bund unit for you.

Dangerous goods legislation identifies bunding, crest locus limits, methods of refilling storage tanks or replacing intermediate containers, signage, safety equipment, personal protective clothing and the provision of safety showers and fire extinguishers to name a few.

With more than 30 years experience in the design and construction of complete treatment water and wastewater facilities containing chemical handling facilities, K2 will construct a chemical bund unit to meet the specific requirements and comply with all the appropriate regulatory standards.

Bulk Chemical Storage

Chemical bulk storage refers to storage of chemicals in quantities greater then 1000L. Bulk storage is supplied which is designed to allow the safe delivery and transfer of chemicals from a tanker to the receiving vessel.

K2 will design and construct complete bulk storage facilities that will comply with all aspects of Australian Standards.

K2 will provide tankage in the correct material of construction. Such materials include mild steel, stainless steel, fibreglass and several plastics. Construction of chemical bunding in concrete with the capacity no less then 120% of the volume of the holding tank is required by EPA and these designs are available form our design group.

In compliance with OH&S requirements, K2's bulk chemical storage facilities also comprise correctly designed supply pipes and controls for tanker bays with appropriate signage and provision of a safety shower.

K2 will also provide complete facilities comprising but not limited to controls, pumping units for each individual application.

Bulky Bins & Drum Containment

IBC's are a method of storing low volume chemicals. The ease of IBCs is that the replacement of the complete unit is required when finished.

IBCs have a capacity of up to 1000L and are supplied in chemically resistant tanks. Mechanical protection is provided by a steel support structure designed for lifting by a forklift. K2 can provide a selection of individual bunds to secure most IBC designs. Specially designed to accommodate a 1200mm square IBC, they provide full containment spill protection and allow simple change over of bins.

Bunds are generally fabricated in corrosion resistant FRP however other materials can be supplied based on the specific chemical resistance required.

Drums are an alternative to IBC’s where the chemical demand is low a standard drum size of 200l can be accommodated within the containment vessel to allow proper segregation of the dissimilar chemicals and prevention of spills.
